ReplyDeleteFriends of Sacks Rec And World Champion Philadelphia Phillies Partnership 2009, during the BTF/MLB Equipment Day. This is the response that the World Champions of Baseball has for the efforts in the community. on July 21, 2009, the Phillies organization on behalf of super star Chase Utley awarded $2500 to the organization that represents the inner city fans. Receiving the award on behalf of the Community group is Doug Nesmith, The Friends of Sacks recreation center located at 400 Washington avenue. The Phillies and every major league team has been focusing on enhancing and recruiting the African American baseball players, they realize that there are diamonds and major leaguers that are waiting to be found, in places like The Sacks center, walking distance from the stadium. The funds went into the melting pot of donations that are used for the betterment of the physical area of Sacks and the programing efforts of the group. The basketball leagues, drill team, drum corp and tee ball and the older Phillies rookie players. Against all odds, especially financial, the parents and volunteers are beginning to garner support for their efforts to provide safe forms of recreation and education to the south Philadelphia community. We have found youth and parents that live outside of the Sacks boundaries return to use the center because they fell safe and respect the experience of the volunteers operating the programs. Hat's off to the Sacks family for the well deserved award. The expanding programs at the recreation center and the surrounding community would appreciate any and all donations especially your time, say one hour a week to supervise a activity, the rewards are priceless.
"VICK CAN BE FIXED CDC STILL SICK"
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the same people who voiced their outrage about the Philadelphia Eagles signing of Michael Vick, (after he had served time for his crime “Dog Fighting”), would be as vocal and or upset that Human Life (Babies) were being neglected in Philadelphia (by federal Disease Control Managers who squandered our hard earned tax dollars earmarked to prevent such a heinous acts from occurring), the same year Vick was being indicted by federal officials in a Virginia Court?
In 2006, former CDC Director Dr. Julie Gerberding was contacted by Senator Barbara Mikulski (MD-D), concerning (among other things), CDC’s FAILED Disease Control Policies in the City of Philadelphia (which harmed Ethnic Minority Pregnant Woman, their vulnerable Unborn Children, Gay Men and African American Women). In addition, Senator Arlen Specter (PA-D) and the Philadelphia Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) , had also been contacted and informed during that same period of time, referencing the very same matters, but without taking any action or tangible follow up.
While you carefully review the analysis provided, it’s important to be mindful of the fact these Women (Victims of NCHSTP’s indifference), were Pregnant in 2006… According to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Disease Control 2007 Annual Report, http://www.phila.gov/health/units/ddc/DDC_Annual_Reports.html "NINE" Cases of Congenital Syphilis were reported in 2007, which reflects a 900% increase from 2006. This report included one Mother and Child born Co-Infected with HIV and Syphilis.
Congenital Syphilis takes place when a child is born to a mother with secondary or tertiary Syphilis. Untreated syphilis in a Pregnant Mother, results in a high risk of a bad outcome of pregnancy. Some infants with congenital syphilis have symptoms at birth, but most develop symptoms later. Untreated Infectious Syphilis during pregnancy can cause miscarriages, premature births, stillbirths or death to unborn and or newborn babies alike.
In a rather arrogant attempt to down play the seriousness of these disturbing and very grave statistics, Philadelphia’s Federally Managed Division of Diseases Control 2007 Annual report stated; “despite this increase in reported congenital syphilis cases, the number of positive cord blood samples continued to decrease in 2007”. How interesting…
This condescending statement is like a chronic drunk driver who wakes up the next morning, while sobering up over multiple cups of coffee and saying, I am not responsible for the nine parked cars damaged last night or the carnage left behind from driving drunk... I did make it home safe last night, so no harm done right?
If the Mothers of these Unborn Children were treated (made safe) prior to them giving birth, conceivably you would expect the number of positive “core bloods” samples to decrease. Moreover, these Women weren’t informed or notified about their Syphilis Exposure in a timely fashion, despite having their positive test for Syphilis reported to the Health Department many months before medical professionals discovered their Syphilitic condition and treated them for Syphilis.
The fact that the Health Department had to even acknowledge the testing of core blood suggests that these Mothers (victims of CDC’s NCHSTP indifference) were not informed and or notified of their disease exposure in a timely fashion.
